Access Granted: Smarter Entry for Everlast Gyms
Nationwide project management and smarter access control for Everlast Gyms.

Taking ownership of the rollout
Following our work with Wanzl on other nationwide programmes, we continued the relationship by taking on sole project management responsibility for the rollout of access control systems across the Everlast Gyms estate.
Working on Wanzl’s behalf, we operate within its existing ecosystem and coordinate directly with its internal teams and other subcontractors involved in delivering the programme.
Our role covers the day-to-day management required to take individual sites from planning through to installation. With locations spread throughout the UK and the programme continuing to develop, maintaining a clear view of upcoming sites, requirements, resources and installation activity is essential.
Rather than simply managing dates on a programme, we take ownership of the practical detail behind them. We coordinate the different teams involved, manage installation activity and keep the information required to move each location forward organised and visible.
The project also gives us an opportunity to bring our technical experience into the conversation.
Access control sits at the point where physical equipment, software, site operations and the customer journey all meet. When something can be improved, understanding those different elements makes it possible to look beyond simply installing the equipment specified and ask whether there is a better way of achieving what the client actually needs.
That became an important part of this programme.
Developing a smarter way to manage access
Alongside the project management and installation programme, we worked with Wanzl and its other subcontractors to help develop a unique access control programme for Everlast Gyms.
Our technical involvement helped the team introduce dynamic QR code access, giving the client a different way to control entry across its estate.
The solution had to remain practical to deploy and manage across multiple sites rather than solving one problem while creating another elsewhere.
This is where combining technical understanding with project management becomes particularly useful.
We weren’t approaching the project purely from an installation perspective or purely from a software perspective. We could work between Wanzl’s internal resources, its specialist subcontractors and the practical requirements of the sites themselves, helping turn the concept into something that could form part of the wider rollout.
Once sites move into delivery, we continue to manage the installation process, coordinating the resources involved and making sure the physical access control systems are delivered as part of the wider programme.
The project remains ongoing, with installations taking place throughout the UK.
It’s one we’re particularly proud to be involved in. Not only because we’ve been trusted with sole project management responsibility, but because our role has gone beyond managing somebody else’s scope. We’ve been able to contribute technical knowledge, work collaboratively with the wider delivery team and help develop an approach that has produced a tangible commercial benefit for the end client.
For us, that’s what good subcontracted project support should look like. Integrate into the team, understand the problem properly, take ownership of the delivery and contribute wherever our experience can make the project better.
